TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. QUOTE: Once needs are determined, a to-scale pdf. mock up design is created and will include up to 3 layouts. Once final artwork confirmation and quote has been made and approved, a final invoice including GST will be emailed to the appropriate contact including terms and conditions. 2. PAYMENT: An invoice with the total amount owing plus GST is submitted to school administration 1-2 weeks prior to the scheduled artwork completion date. Payment must be made on or before the day of completion, NO EXCEPTIONS. If 30 days is required for Board payments, notification is required in order to pre bill and receive payment accordingly. A date for artwork completion will then be scheduled to ensure payment is received on or before completion. Artwork will not be completed until payment terms are met. 3.a. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES: It is the clients responsibility to ensure the mats are free of dirt/dust before the artwork is applied to ensure proper adhesion of the product. 3.b. The client is responsible for pre-inspecting the mat installation to ensure that all removable mats are hung correctly to avoid misalignment of artwork after removing and replacing. 3.c. The client is responsible for the ordering, payment and set up of any scaffolding or skyjack required for work completed over 7ft in height and/or deemed necessary by the artist. 4. GENERAL: The process in which the artwork is applied to vinyl mats is by hand. Various colours will produce slight texture change due to brush strokes and level of opacity. 100% true coverage is not guaranteed with standard white and yellow. This is also true when tinting a white base to create a lighter colour. To reduce variance, custom colours may be ordered at a fee of $150 per colour. This eliminates the need to hand mix and thin a colour on site. Standard non-custom inventory colours that provide true coverage are Black (GLV 1110), Brilliant Red (1030), Forest Green (1450) and Reflex Blue (1520). 5. ALTERATIONS, INSPECTIONS, EXTRAS: Muddyford Marketing reserves the right to make an additional charge for any extra work ordered and not specified in the quotation and also for the expense of all alterations or additions for any other work undertaken at the customers request. While onsite it is important to inspect the work immediately upon completion to rule out any unforeseen discrepancies and ensure the artwork meets expectations prior to the artist vacating the premises. If after project completion you wish for changes to be made, additional charges will be billed for travel, materials, labor, and if necessary, accomodation. A revisit date will only be scheduled after initial payment has been received. *** It is the responsibility of the client to make themselves aware of the Terms and Conditions.***
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: I want my painting on the wall instead. Is the process the same? A: Yes in most cases, however it may be necessary for an initial consultation to take place at your school to determine the location of the mural painting, the surface, the size and if scaffolding or a skyjack is required. (Please note that a school is responsible for the rental and set up of scaffolding over 6ft and or a skyjack). Sometimes the consultation isn't needed if a good quality digital picture of the area can be taken and emailed along with the dimensions of the space to be painted. Q: I want custom colours applied to the artwork to match our school colours. Is this possible? A: When painting on wall padding we can custom match any colour using the Pantone© Colour System. This is a print media colour system however the product applied to gym mats uses the same Pantone system. All we require is the Pantone colour number/s. There is a $150 mixing charge for each custom colour ordered. When painting murals or graphics on gym walls, paint type will be determined based on your current wall surface (Acrylic, Alkyd, Epoxy, etc). However, in most cases a high quality 100% Acrylic Latex, such as Aura Paint from Benjamin Moore is used. Q. How do I know which paint type to use and what I currently have? What types of paint are there? (For walls only) Here's the skinny' on the two basic types of paint.* Water-based (also called latex) Paints: These offer the easiest application and soap-and-water cleanup, are the fastest drying and have less odor than solvent paints. Latex performs well on interior walls and ceilings; its quick drying time prevents the kinds of ripples and sags that can occur with slower-drying alkyd finishes. For brick, concrete and cinder block, only latex should be used. Alkyd (commonly called "oil-based") Paints: This type generally cost more than latex. (Though interchangeably referred to as "oil-based", they're not the same thing as the traditional oil-based paints that they have largely come to replace.) Application requires patience - thin coats are generally necessary to avoid problems like sagging and streaking, and the drying time is usually longer than latex. The up side is a paint job that stands up beautifully to long-term wear and tear. Scrubbing off dirt and scuff marks won't harm the paint. Alkyd paints are the superior choice for painting floors and metal surfaces.
For Interiors: You can safely apply latex over oil, or oil over latex, but only if the previous finish is:
For Exteriors: Oil should not be applied over latex. The best exterior combination is latex paint over alkyd primer. (*Information source: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/typesofpaint) Q: How much does it cost to get this type of artwork done? A: Pricing is determined based on your needs. You may select a curvier lined font with several colours and have a detailed logo or mascot which would cost more that a standard style font such as 'College' and a basic graphic with only one or two colours. The creative possibilities are endless which makes it difficult to offer a set price. Please call or go to our contact page for a quote. Q: How long does it take to paint both ends of our gym? A: On average it takes 2 full days to complete standard gym mat artwork which includes working into the evening if necessary without any rentals or permits present. Standard means at one end it may say "Welcome to...(with your school name) and "Home of the...(with a school graphic/logo) at the other end. Wall work may take longer due to the fact the surface is generally never smooth (i.e. Cinder Block). Q: Does the gym have to be closed to students while the work is being completed? A: Yes. Unfortunately the gym does have to be closed while the artwork is being completed. There are products and materials laying around that could interfere with the students and the worker. The paint product also has an odour that may be bothersome to some individuals. (Note: Allowances are made ONLY if your gym has a divider or curtain to separate the students from the work area.) Q. What are your hours of operation? A: We can complete your artwork during the week and if necessary, on a weekend.
